“Golden Rhythm”
Financial analyst Cheng Ye bought a “get-rich-quick bracelet” at a temple fair stall – a chain made of nine hollow gold beads. The stall owner was a one-eyed old man: “Each bead will become solid when it absorbs wealth, but remember, gold only stays with sincere people.”
While working overtime that night, the bracelet suddenly vibrated by itself. Cheng Ye followed the guidance of the gold beads and picked up a lottery ticket soaked in coffee next to the trash can. The next day at the prize redemption office, the staff said in surprise: “This one should be invalid because of damage…” Before he finished speaking, the last gold bead of the bracelet “clicked” and became solid.
Three months later, when the eighth gold bead was filled, Cheng Ye discovered that the one-eyed old man was actually a private equity tycoon on the financial headlines. The TV was broadcasting the news of his bankruptcy: “…all assets have vanished, except for a gold bracelet that is always missing the last bead.” Cheng Ye touched his wrist, and the hollow pattern of the ninth gold bead vaguely reflected the hundred-dollar bill he gave to the homeless when he first bought the bracelet.
