“Silver Threads Tie Fate”
There is an inconspicuous silversmith shop at the corner of the old street. The silver jewelry made by the master always has a special warmth. That day, a girl walked in with red eyes and took out a pair of yellowed love letters. “Master, can you engrave the words in these two letters on the silver beads? I want to make them into couple bracelets.” The master put on his reading glasses and carefully identified the faded handwriting on the letter paper: “The first one says ‘Wait for the rain to stop and we will go to see the rainbow’, and the second one says ‘The rainbow is not as good as the color of your eyes’.” The girl nodded gently: “This is what my grandparents wrote when they were young. Grandma can’t remember things now, but she always talks about waiting for someone… I want this pair of bracelets to help them regain their memories.” The master stayed up for three nights, engraved the words into fine patterns on the silver beads, and then used red thread to weave them into a heart knot. When the old man put on the silver string on his trembling wrist, grandpa suddenly read out the words on the beads, and grandma’s eyes lit up instantly. Later, the master always liked to hide a poem in each pair of couples’ bracelets: “May I be like the stars and you be like the moon, shining brightly every night.” He said that silver will oxidize, but the love that has been truly blessed will always shine.
