“Maitreya Buddha Bracelet”
Antique dealer Lao Zhou received a thickly patinated Maitreya Buddha bracelet, with each Buddha head grinning. The seller said mysteriously: “This string of beads will choose its own owner.”
Lao Zhou, whose business was not going well, put on the bracelet with doubt. During the negotiation the next day, his opponent suddenly softened his attitude; when he went to collect the debt, the debtor took the initiative to pay back the money. He was surprised to find that whenever he was anxious, the bracelet would get slightly hot, reminding him to imitate the smile of Maitreya Buddha.
Three months later, Lao Zhou sold it at a high price at an auction, and the bracelet suddenly broke, and the beads rolled into the sewer. He was stunned for a moment but laughed out loud, because he finally understood: those smiles were in his heart, but they were just revealed through the beads.
Meaning:
The smile of Maitreya Buddha is a mirror, reflecting the inherent compassion of all living beings
The “magic power” of the bracelet actually comes from the change in the wearer’s mentality
The real Dharma instrument will leave in due time, because wisdom has taken root
(Core: External beliefs are only the trigger, the key to awakening is always in your own hands)
