“The Curse of the Blessing Beads”
In the attic of the Zhou family’s old house, there is a strange bracelet with the word “Fu” engraved on the sandalwood beads. The “Fu” character is all reversed. Before her death, grandma gave it to her granddaughter Zhou Ying: “This is a bead for borrowing luck. Wear it for a hundred days and it can turn bad luck into good luck.”
After Zhou Ying put it on, everything went smoothly. Until the night of the ninety-ninth day, the bracelet suddenly tightened by itself. A woman in a red cheongsam appeared in the mirror, with the same bracelet tied around her neck, and each “Fu” character was bleeding. “Silly girl,” the woman sneered, “‘Fu is reversed’ means ‘Misfortune is here’, you borrowed my life.”
It turned out that grandma used this bracelet to exchange her life with the concubine who died suddenly in order to save her seriously ill son. Now Zhou Ying touched the mark on the inside of the bead – there was her birth date engraved there.
(The meaning of the blessing bead bracelet: good fortune and misfortune are born together, and forced good luck is often the resentment of others)
