“Confessions of Moissanite”
A poor student from the Department of Astronomy, Ah Xing, bought a “fake diamond” bracelet at a second-hand store, just because the beads looked like the moissanite in the meteorite specimen. “No one can tell the difference anyway.” He said self-deprecatingly.
On the birthday of the senior sister he secretly loved, the heavy rain extinguished the observation plan of the rooftop telescope. Ah Xing gritted his teeth and tore off the bracelet, and strung the beads into a mini constellation instrument with fishing line. “Look, even if there is no Milky Way…” Before he finished speaking, those “fake diamonds” suddenly reflected the brilliance of the aurora – it turned out to be the rarest meteorite moissanite.
Later, the laboratory reported that the naming rights of a certain asteroid were donated anonymously, on the condition that it would be listed as a “double star” together with the one discovered by the senior sister.
(Meaning: Moissanite is called “the gem closest to the stars”, symbolizing the hidden sincerity and the persistence of “seemingly ordinary but dazzling”.)
