“Tears of the Peacock”
In an ancient village on the border of Yunnan, there is a legend about the “Peacock Stone” – it is the tears of the divine peacock, which can bring supreme glory, but also hides a curse.
The young gem hunter Lu Yuan does not believe this. When he finally found the legendary Peacock Stone in the crack of the cliff, he was instantly captivated: the gem was flowing with a blue, green and gold halo in the sun, like a miniature of a living peacock’s tail feathers.
“Enough to buy half a city.” He trembled as he chiseled off the gem, but did not notice the ancient warning painted in blood on the rock wall.
That night, Lu Yuan had a dream. A peacock with its tail feathers plucked was wailing in the fire. When he woke up, he found strange hard bumps on his back – they were peacock feathers that were taking shape.
Three months later, the villagers found a beautiful blue peacock under the cliff, its tail feathers gleaming with a metallic luster, and its eyes were frozen with human fear. And that piece of dazzling stone is still embedded in the cliff, waiting for the next greedy person.
