“Candy Curse”
Dessert chef Tang Guo received an anonymous express delivery, which contained a candy-shaped gem bracelet. Each “candy” was carved from colored crystals and wrapped in natural inclusions like frosting. When she put it on casually, the macarons in the oven suddenly appeared with human faces. “This is the ‘sweet curse’.” The old lady who often came to buy cakes stared at the bracelet, “Eighty years ago, a candy merchant’s daughter disappeared wearing it…” That night, Tang Guo dreamed that she was wearing a 1920s dress and standing in a candy factory. The amethyst “candy” on the bracelet suddenly melted, and the dripping syrup formed a line of words: “The recipe is in the third one.” When she opened the store the next day, she found that the green mint candy gem of the bracelet was missing. On the same day, the newly opened Internet celebrity dessert shop on the corner launched an exclusive recipe exactly the same as hers. Tang Guo followed her memory to find the abandoned candy factory. When her hand touched the rusty safe, the orange candy gem suddenly became hot-in the box was her great-grandfather’s diary, recording the truth that the partner poisoned and took away the recipe. The sound of high heels came from the shadows. Tang Guo turned around and saw the owner of the online celebrity shop coming over with the missing emerald on her wrist: “Ms. Tang, your great-grandmother was also nosy before she died…” All the candy gems suddenly burst, and the splashing sugar crystals turned into rainbows in the sun. Tang Guo realized that this bracelet was not a decoration at all, but was made by her great-grandmother with crystal sugar and tears – each “candy” contained a formula for the antidote to a poison. Amid the sirens, the last red strawberry candy gem rolled into the detector. The display clearly showed that the online celebrity dessert contained the same toxin that poisoned Tang’s great-grandmother 80 years ago.
